What’s launching today?

I have exciting news! A few weeks ago, I promised you a short story. Well, today is the day! “The Cabin”, a short story based on my current work-in-progress, is available for your reading pleasure! Just check out the Story of the Week section of my website. You will be able to download the story in your format of choice, PDF, ePub or Mobi.

“The Cabin” is told from the perspective of Jack, a struggling writer who can’t decide what is truly important in his life. While Jack is not the main character, this story gives some good insights into what the novel is about. It also helped me understand Jack’s motivations. I’m still not sure if the story will become a chapter in the novel itself, but I had a good time writing from the point of view of a man. The exercise stretched my own writing muscles and made me consider the story from different characters’ perspectives.

Just to reassure you, I am committed to getting My Best Mistake published this year. But short stories like “The Cabin” are good for several reasons. They get content into your hands (or Kindle or Nook or computer) quicker. Short stories are also faster to read. I know, Awesome Reader, that classics like The Odyssey and War and Peace are worthwhile, but can be time consuming to read. (Although, truth be told, I haven’t read much Homer or Tolstoy lately so maybe they don’t take as long to digest as I think.)

Anyway, “The Cabin” will be available for a limited time, so be sure to get your copy today! If you like “The Cabin”, be sure to sign up for my newsletter and you can receive the first three chapters of My Best Mistake for free. As always, let me know your thoughts at carolewolfeauthor@gmail.com.
