Finding Magic ✨
This month, I have several amazing books to share! One of them even kept me up past my bedtime—a rare feat these days.
I used to do that all the time. Stay up until the early hours because a book had cast its spell on me. But now? Age, responsibilities, and the knowledge that if I wreck my sleep schedule it takes forever to fix mean I don’t do that anymore.
Unless, of course, I have a truly magical reason.
📖 So What Kept Me Reading?
I devoured The Seven Miracles of Beatrix Holland by Rachael Herron in just three days—even during a road trip to visit my kiddo. When I closed the final page, I found myself smiling.
Rachael has been one of my go-to authors for years. Her book How to Knit a Love Story has been on my childhood bedroom bookshelf since the 2000s (she’s since re-released it as Abigail’s Shop). But it’s her newest novel that really captured me.
Beatrix is a woman whose carefully ordered, practical life has completely unraveled. She’s stuck in her logical ways until she begins to wonder if maybe—just maybe—there’s more waiting for her if she’s brave enough to let go.
And here’s the beauty: you don’t have to believe in “magic” to feel the impact of this story. Sometimes the real magic is in giving yourself permission to question the rules you’ve always lived by. To explore the uncomfortable. To realize you might have been wrong—and that’s okay.
🎧 Another Type of Magic
People have recommended The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern to me for years. It’s been sitting on my list since it came out in 2011, and I finally picked it up.
Was it worth the wait? Absolutely.
The magic in this book fuels an entire circus—I think I can say that without spoiling anything. The multi-person points of view and dual timelines kept me on my toes, but it was worth every page. So worth it.
I’d love to see the promised movie adaptation actually make it to the big screen, but for now, I might just have to reread it.
🎧 A Little Love with Your Magic
Okay, this last one isn’t technically about magic—it’s a romance. But honestly, Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez has a sparkle all its own.
It’s a story of bad first impressions, funny second chances, and the magic of finding your perfect someone. So yes, there’s magic here after all. ❤️
