My May reading was fabulous! I stumbled upon The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang, devoured the second book in the series,The Bride Test, but put on the brakes before I dove into book three, The Heart Principle. I promised myself I would read book three on my next plane trip. Which thankfully is only a few weeks away!
I also wrapped up an intriguing thriller, The Plans They Made by Graciela Kenig, that I want to highlight. While it is a thriller, it follows the story of a journalist-turned-novelist as she struggles to understand the tragedy in her life. And I have the privilege of knowing the author!
The Plans They Made by Graciela Kenig
Here is the book description:
Her best friend is dead. A terrorist cell threatens to bomb London. Can an American journalist save hundreds of lives?
Kate Brennan is devastated. After months of planning a reunion in London, the Chicago-based, award-winning investigative reporter turned novelist is shattered to learn that her dearest friend is dead. But when she realizes that the circumstances are suspicious—and that even looking into them could imperil her own life—she feels compelled to act.
Teaming up with a man who knew her friend, Kate embarks on the most extraordinary and hair-raising fact-finding mission of her life. With a terrorist cell stalking her every move and under the constant threat of suicide bombings, she fears both she and hundreds of people are about to run out of time. Can Kate outfox the terrorists and save their targets from certain doom? Or will she die along with them, never getting justice for her best friend?
THE PLANS THEY MADE is a pulse pounding international thriller that will keep you turning pages until the very end.
What else I’m reading
I’m listening to Good Omens by Neil Gaiman on audiobook. I’ve read the book and watched the Prime series, but for some reason, I was drawn to listen to it. My husband thinks I may have gone overboard on this one, but so far, I’m enjoying it!
June Plans
I’ll be traveling most of June so I’m not sure how much reading or writing I’ll accomplish. The launch of My Best Break – Cynthia’s Story is slated for June 8, 2023 but that’s about the only thing I can commit to right now, although I can confirm The Heart Principle is cued up in my reading app!
Until next time…
