Something different for the new year

It’s Christmas Eve and I am tying up some loose ends before I head to the kitchen and start making side dishes for our holiday dinner. I’m in charge of things like appetizers, vegetables, breads and desserts. Except for potatoes. My husband takes care of the potatoes and meat.

Since it is a small gathering this year due to the pandemic, we are trying something new: Crown Pork Roast. I get to make the little crowns for the ribs, but other than that, I don’t have to worry about the main course.

Speaking of other differences, I have joined up with a group of writers for a multi-genre anthology, but it isn’t what you might expect. It is a psychological thriller written by 14 authors about a ride share driver who has some major issues. The book comes out on January 21, 2021. A word of warning: it is not for the faint of heart.

Here’s an official account on what to expect.

There’s something for just about everyone in The Rearview Mirror, a multi-genre anthology featuring fourteen authors from five countries.

Each selection weaves around the story of Harvey Cullum, a ride share driver with the urRide company, who had chauffeured people around for thirteen years without incident. Until now. When he wakes up in the state mental institution after a tragic car wreck involving one of his passengers, he is pressed by police to recount the events surrounding the accident.

As he struggles to recount the fares he’s served that week, a darker picture unfolds. Voices in his head and secrets from his past taunt him, slowly fraying the edges of his reality. Harvey pulls at the threads of memories in hopes of unraveling the tragic events of his past. What he reveals in his retelling, however, is a series of fares too bizarre to be considered real.

Harvey’s confusion and paranoia heighten as he struggles to hear the one voice in his head that speaks the loudest – his own.

Harvey’s fares and the adventures they take Harvey on are presented in the stories in the anthology. Some are horror or fantasy, others are realistic. Some are sweet, others are gritty and one borders on erotica. All of them combine to show Harvey’s descent into madness and show the way for him to return.

If you like psychological thrillers, then Rearview Mirror is a book for you.

Rearview Mirror is a collaboration of the Active Alumni Writers, with contributions from fourteen writers from five countries.

The book is available for pre-order on Amazon now.

If that doesn’t get you excited, here is a link to the book trailer! It will knock your socks off!

Merry Christmas to you all! Whether you celebrate the holiday or not, I wish you peace, joy and love!

Until next time…
