Social proof

Like it or not, we live in an age that requires social proof. In my mind, that’s just a fancy phrase for recommendations and endorsements, but entire books have been written about the fact people want to know what other people are buying/doing/reading before they buy/do/read. I’ve included a definition of social proof from Wikipedia below.

Social proof, a term coined by Robert Cialdini in his 1984 book, Influence, is also known as informational social influence. It describes a psychological and social phenomenon wherein people copy the actions of others in an attempt to undertake behavior in a given situation. Wikipedia

But what I wanted to focus on today is reviews.

First off, thank you to the 70 of you out there who have posted a review on Amazon, Kobo, Goodreads or any other book seller. If I haven’t thanked you personally, please know how much I appreciate your time and recommendation. There are so many things to do, and I’m honored that you took time from your day to write a review for My Best Mistake.

A review is one of the most important things for an author. It spreads the word about the book. It puts the book in front of the right readers. It tells the writer what the reader likes and doesn’t like.

Which leads me to the point of today’s post: My Best Mistake needs more social proof. I need people to share their thoughts and feelings about My Best Mistake so that potential readers will know if this is a book series for them. If you haven’t had a chance to review My Best Mistake, I’d love it if you would.

Word of mouth helps, too. Feel free to pass on your paperback book to a friend if you think it would be a good fit for them. The book is available through many libraries. If it is not in your library, check out this blog post to find out how to request it. Also, the book comes in a format for everyone – e-book, paperback, large print paperback and audio.

I’m still looking for Advance Review Copy team members for My Best Decision – Sara’s Story. If you are interested in reading the book before it comes out and giving your honest review, let me know.

I appreciate your time in helping me out with this! Send me an email acarolewolfeauthor@gmail.com if you have any questions!

Until next time…
