My word of the year

Happy New Year! I’m looking forward to the new year and the new decade.

The last few years, I’ve selected a word of the year. It’s a word that encompasses what I want to get out of the year or how I want to feel about what I do. In the past, I’ve selected words like progress, focus and create. This year’s word is a little different.

This year, I’ve selected enough.

Why enough, you might ask? Well, you can use it in a lot of different ways.

I am enough.

Enough already.

That is enough.

It can apply to tangible items like clothes or books or emotions like worry or procrastination. I’ve gotten to the point where I want to publish more books so I have to make some decisions about what is important enough to take my time from writing. I think it will be an ongoing experiment this year, which I’ll document on the blog.

I am following Ali Edwards class, One Little Word, to guide the process. As I go through the year, I may share some of my work from the class. I’ll also share what kind of coincidences happen when I focus on enough, one of which is below.

I’ve been mediating off and on for several years. Insight Timer is the app I’m using now, and I was scrolling through the courses when I saw an “I am enough” meditation. After listening to it, I knew I picked the right word for 2020.

If you are so inclined, feel free to pick a word for the year. You don’t have to take a class or mediate or blog about it. Just having a word to center you can be helpful.

Send me an email or comment below with your word for the year!

Until next week…
