When the Word Count Doesn’t Add Up

Something is off… and it is most likely me.

When I finally sat down to write this post, I realized I hadn’t recorded all of my hours or my word count. Not sure how that happened. Actually, I do know, but since this is a new habit, I’m choosing to call it a work in progress. That feels kinder.

So here is what I did record.

Writing Stats for March 2026

New words written: 14,256

Time recorded: 6 hours and 25 minutes

The reason I know this can’t be accurate is that I wrote an entire short story that clocked in at 20,000 words. And six hours is something I can log in a couple of days.

But I can only report what’s in my tracker, so… here we are.

What I Worked On in March

Editing Run Around

Run Around, book two in the Running with Friends series, went to the editor and came back. I’m really happy with how it turned out and cannot wait for the June release.

This story digs deeper into friendship, second chances, and the kind of life questions that don’t come with easy answers… but do come with a few laughs along the way.

Bonus: no technical difficulties this time. A true miracle.

The Bonus Story: Stick Around

If you recall, Stick Around was being a bit… stubborn. There may have been a meltdown. There were definitely threats involving a Big Chief Tablet.

The good news is that I confirmed all edits made it into the document. We are officially back on track.

The only thing left is to upload the book. Adding that to the to-do list now.

April Writing Plans

April will focus on:

  • Outlining book three in the Running with Friends series
  • Polishing the secret project

I might even be able to share a little more about the secret project…we shall see!
